Chemotherapy starts soon. What dentistry comes first?
Prioritize infection, symptomatic or threatened teeth, hopeless teeth, and tissue irritants without delaying essential cancer treatment.
- Review the protocol, CBC, immune status, and available healing window with oncology.
- Ideally complete all dental care first; temporize lower-risk disease if time is insufficient.
- Ideally extract two weeks before therapy; symptomatic nonvital permanent teeth ideally receive single-visit root canal treatment at least one week before therapy.
- Monitor clinically/radiographically sound previously pulp-treated primary teeth; do not extract them automatically.
