A toddler drinks juice throughout the day. What do you counsel?
Replace continuous juice exposure with planned meals or snacks and recommend whole fruit and plain fluoridated water.
- Review quantity, container, and bedtime use: the guidance limits juice to 4 oz/day at ages 1–3, 4–6 oz/day at ages 4–6, and 8 oz/day at ages 7–18, with none routinely under 12 months.
- Those are ceilings rather than goals; less frequent sugar exposure is central to caries prevention.
