Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS) are inherited connective-tissue disorders with variable hypermobility, skin findings, tissue fragility, and organ risk. Inheritance and molecular mechanisms differ. Vascular EDS can cause serious arterial or organ rupture; periodontal EDS has a characteristic severe periodontal phenotype. Hypermobile EDS does not imply these same risks.
