How does Hallermann–Streiff syndrome affect dental management?
Airway: assess before any sedation and review OSA history.
Difficult-airway planning: Micrognathia, a narrow airway, limited mouth opening, and TMJ anomalies can complicate intubation; GA requires an anesthesia team prepared for a difficult airway.
Communication: adapt explanations and orientation to visual impairment.
Dental care: protect malformed or hypoplastic teeth and assess eruption radiographically when indicated.
Before extraction: A retained primary or supernumerary tooth is not an automatic extraction: assess the permanent successor, obstruction, pathology, and orthodontic plan.
Growth: Plan prosthetic replacement and reassess fit as the child grows.
