Formerly called neurofibromatosis type 2, this NF2-related tumor-predisposition disorder commonly causes bilateral vestibular schwannomas, meningiomas, and other nervous-system tumors. It is autosomal dominant, with de novo and mosaic cases. Modern schwannomatosis classification separates NF2-related disease from other genetic forms.
