What are mucopolysaccharidoses and how do the types differ?
Deficient lysosomal enzymes impair glycosaminoglycan degradation. Types include I (Hurler spectrum), II (Hunter), III (Sanfilippo), IV (Morquio), VI (Maroteaux–Lamy), VII (Sly), and rare IX. Most are autosomal recessive; type II is X-linked. The stored substrate, organs involved, and neurologic course differ by type.
